contents <p><b><i>Rhinacanthus grandiflorus</i> Dunn (1920: 135) (Figs. 1–2)</b></p><p><i>Lectotype</i> (Designated by Deng 2020):— INDIA. “Eastern Himalaya. Outer Abor Hills: common in shade of Shingkeng and other woods at Janakmukh”, 13 December 1911, <i>Burkill</i> 37117 (K, barcode K000884359 [digital image!], isolectotypes, (K barcode K00088436, CAL barcode CAL0000007069 [digital images!]).</p><p>Shrubs, 0.6–1.2 m high. Stems quadrangular, glabrous. Leaves simple, opposite; lamina ovate-elliptic to obovate, 13–20 × 5–8 cm, base cuneate, margins entire to distantly crenate, apex acuminate to caudate, chartaceous, glabrous on both surfaces, except dense minute cystoliths on either surface; veins prominent, lateral veins 6–8 pairs; petiole 1.5–3 cm long, canaliculate, glabrous. Inflorescence terminal cymes, 3–7 cm long; peduncle <i>c.</i> 5 mm long, shortly branched, glabrous. Bracts small, triangular, 1–1.2 mm long, margin entire, apex acute, glabrous. Bracteoles linear-lanceolate, 0.3–0.7 mm long, margin entire, apex acute, glabrous. Flowers pedicillate; pedicels 1.5–6 mm long, glabrous. Calyx campanulate, 5-lobed, glabrous; lobes equal, narrow, subulate, 2–3 mm long, margin entire, apex acute. Corolla bilabiate, white to pale purple, glabrous outside, sparsely pubescent inside, 5–7 cm long; tube narrow, cylindric, 3.5–5 cm long and 1.5–2 mm in diameter; upper lip linear, 1.2–2 cm long, recurved, apex acute, minutely 2-cleft at apex; lower lip broad, 3-lobed; lobes obovate, 1.7–2 cm long. Stamens 2, exserted; filaments 3.5–6 mm long, filiform, glabrous; anthers oblong-ovoid, 1.5–2 mm long, 2-lobed; thecae superimposed. Ovary oblong-ellipsoid, 3–6 mm long, glabrous; style filiform, 12–15 mm long; stigma 2-lobed. Capsule oblong, 2.5–3.5 cm long, glabrous, 4-seeded; seeds disciform, rugose, 3–5 mm in diameter.</p><p><b>Flowering and Fruiting:—</b> November to January (Deng 2020).</p><p><b>Habitat:—</b> <i>Rhinacanthus grandiflorus</i> is a rarely found species in northeast India and currently known only from Abor Hills of Arunachal Pradesh. It grows in shady places and wet tropical forests upto 800 m altitude. species was found growing with <i>Boehmeria</i> spp., <i>Elatostema platyphyllum</i> Wedd. (1856: 301), <i>Impatiens</i> spp., <i>Hopea</i> sp., <i>etc</i>.</p><p><b>Distribution</b>: <i>—</i> Endemic to India: Abor Hills of Siang region and Lower Dibang Valley, Arunachal Pradesh (Fig. 3).</p><p><b>Specimens examined</b>:— INDIA, Arunachal Pradesh: Siang district, near Sirki Waterfall, 09 December 2023, 28.105887º N, 95.268939º E, <i>A.
