This paper explores how contemporary Odia poets have engaged with themes of religious intolerance, identity conflict, and collective trauma through nuanced poetic expressions. Drawing from a range of poems composed in the post-2000 period, the study examines the poetic strategies—such as metaphor, irony, and fragmented narrative—that capture the anguish, resistance, and resilience of marginalized voices affected by communal strife. The analysis also considers the historical context of such violence in Odisha and India at large, tracing how memory and mourning are encoded in poetic language. By situating these works within a broader framework of resistance literature, the paper argues that Odia poetry in the 21st century becomes a powerful space for dissent, empathy, and ethical reflection. This investigation not only highlights the aesthetic responses to violence but also reaffirms the role of literature in preserving secular consciousness and advocating for social harmony.</p> |
