contents <p>A Mechanical Re-interpretation of Cosmic Dynamics<br>This paper introduces the Variable Elastic Space (VES) model, an alternative cosmological approach that eliminates the need for Dark Matter and Dark Energy by redefining space as a physical medium with variable elasticity.<br>The core of the model is the assumption that matter acts as a structural "anchor" that locally stiffens spacetime (saturation state), while space relaxes in matter-poor regions—such as cosmic voids and galactic outskirts—exhibiting higher geometric compliance.<br>By introducing the smoothing factor λ and time-delayed spatial remanence τ, the VES model provides a consistent mechanical explanation for phenomena such as:<br>    • Flat rotation curves of galaxies.<br>    • The Bullet Cluster observations.<br>    • The accelerated expansion of the universe.<br>The VES model serves as a physical extension of General Relativity, complementing Einstein’s geometry with the mechanical properties of an elastic continuum to create a non-contradictory, materially reduced worldview.</p> <p>© 2026 Markus Nicke</p>
