- <p>The question of freedom of choice, in the ontological sense, is often considered to lie outside the domain of physics. Here, we develop a theoretical framework for free choice based on a minimal extension of Bohmian mechanics. Within this framework, free-choice processes induce slight deviations from standard quantum predictions. We show that these deviations are experimentally testable using a tripartite photonic GHZ protocol achievable with current technology. The framework is formulated within a trilemma involving three fundamental assumptions—quantum completeness, quantum determinism, and freedom of choice—which cannot all hold simultaneously. Consequently, the proposed protocol provides a direct empirical test of quantum completeness.</p>
