- <p>The aim of this paper is to study, analyze and document the Adina Mura Mosque, which is claimed to be one of the very first and oldest mosques in the Greater Cumilla region of Bangladesh. The name 'adina' which means 'old' or 'ancient' in Bengali language suggests the mosque's ancient origin, although the exact time period of construction or the identity of the founder is unknown. Through detailed surveys and analysis of the mosque's remaining architectural features, it can be assumed that many of the features resemble the architectural style of early medieval Islamic Architecture of Sultanate period of Muslim rule in Bengal. However, this historical mosque faces the threat of decay, disintegration, and anthropogenic destruction as unplanned extensions around the original mosque took place without considering its historical and architectural heritage value, with hardly any effort of proper conservation. There is an urgent need for immediate action of research, exploration and preservation to save the legacy of this historic landmark. This research aims to investigate and analyze the historic and physical features of the mosque through a systematic survey and documentation process. This research will lay a foundation for future conservation intervention on this site. Moreover, this work will significantly contribute to historic mosque architecture study in Cumilla region of Bangladesh.</p>
