contents <h2>Logbook Template for ACTRIS CARS Lidar Systems</h2> <h3>Description</h3> <p>This repository provides a standardized Logbook Template developed within the framework of the ACTRIS (Aerosol, Clouds and Trace Gases Research Infrastructure) and implemented at the CARS facility.</p> <p>The logbook is designed for routine operation, quality assurance, maintenance tracking and traceability of ground based lidar systems, including high power elastic, Raman and High Spectral Resolution Lidar configurations.</p> <p>Its main objective is to ensure harmonized documentation across ACTRIS National Facilities and Central Facilities, supporting:</p> <ul> <li> <p>traceability of instrumental changes and interventions</p> </li> <li> <p>documentation of calibration activities such as telecover tests, Rayleigh fits and polarization calibration</p> </li> <li> <p>recording of system upgrades, optical realignments and component replacements</p> </li> <li> <p>tracking of software and configuration file updates such as SCC and ATLAS versions</p> </li> <li> <p>documentation of anomalies, troubleshooting actions and corrective measures</p> </li> <li> <p>compliance with ACTRIS Quality Assurance and Quality Control procedures</p> </li> </ul> <h3>Scope</h3> <p>The logbook can be used for:</p> <ul> <li> <p>continuous monitoring lidars</p> </li> <li> <p>campaign based lidar systems</p> </li> <li> <p>mobile or temporary installations</p> </li> <li> <p>multi wavelength systems at 355 nm, 532 nm and 1064 nm</p> </li> <li> <p>systems equipped with depolarization and Raman channels</p> </li> </ul> <p>It is compatible with ACTRIS workflows involving data processing chains such as SCC and ATLAS and supports the preparation of QA reports, certification procedures and intercomparison exercises.</p> <h3>Structure</h3> <p>The logbook template includes structured sections for:</p> <ol> <li> <p>System identification and configuration</p> </li> <li> <p>Daily operational status</p> </li> <li> <p>Maintenance and hardware interventions</p> </li> <li> <p>Calibration activities and QA tests</p> </li> <li> <p>Software and processing configuration updates</p> </li> <li> <p>Environmental conditions and operational constraints</p> </li> <li> <p>Remarks and incident reporting</p> </li> </ol> <p>Each entry is timestamped and linked to responsible personnel, ensuring full traceability in line with ACTRIS QA requirements.</p> <h3>Purpose within ACTRIS</h3> <p>Within the ACTRIS framework, standardized documentation is essential for:</p> <ul> <li> <p>instrument certification and re certification</p> </li> <li> <p>long term data reliability</p> </li> <li> <p>cross site comparability</p> </li> <li> <p>Central Facility validation procedures</p> </li> <li> <p>support of satellite Cal Val activities</p> </li> </ul> <p>The implementation of this logbook at CARS contributes to harmonization efforts across the ACTRIS lidar community and strengthens the reproducibility and transparency of aerosol and cloud remote sensing measurements.</p> <h3>Recommended Citation</h3> <p>When using this logbook template in operational or scientific contexts, please cite the Zenodo DOI associated with this record.</p>
