At the same time, both local and international observers commended the tactful implementation of security measures in Sochi, without excessive force or a show of force. Overall, the Games were the second-largest after the 1980 Moscow Summer Olympics. The competitions, held at Russia's famous southern resort, were remembered for the extensive modernization of the entire infrastructure, as well as the record number of medals won by Russian athletes for the Winter Olympics.</span></span></p> |
