•
This Zenodo archive provides post-processed datasets and analysis scripts supporting Zhang et al. (2026), “Overview of Coupled Earth System Model Spin-Up for E3SM Version 3 at Standard Resolution.” These data were generated and derived from simulations that include two experiment classes:

Fully coupled atmosphere–land–river–ocean–sea-ice simulations, and

Partially coupled ocean–sea-ice simulations forced by atmospheric and land-surface fields generated from the fully coupled experiments.

All simulations were conducted under pre-industrial aerosol and greenhouse-gas forcing conditions using the U.S. Department of Energy’s Energy Exascale Earth System Model, Version 3 (E3SMv3). The E3SM source code used for these simulations is publicly available via the E3SM GitHub repository. A dedicated maintenance branch (maint-3.0) has been created to ensure reproducibility of the experiments associated with this archive. Documentation describing the native E3SMv3 coupled model output is available at https://docs.e3sm.org/e3sm_data_docs/_build/html/v3/CoupledSystem. Full details of the model configuration, coupling strategy, and experimental design are described in Zhang et al. (2026).
