| contents | This submission presents ExPresS XR, a no-code development framework for creating interactive virtual reality (VR) exhibitions in museum contexts. Built on the Unity game engine and designed for use without programming knowledge, the tool allows humanities researchers and students to design immersive XR experiences. We describe two exemplary projects - Temple Tax and Doves and Hetepheres Tomb VR - that demonstrate the framework's potential for historical and archaeological storytelling. Based on our practical experiences, we outline best practices for XR exhibition design, including accessibility, interactivity, and visitor onboarding strategies. We also discuss the benefits of ongoing developments, such as voice-based chat assistants and multiplayer functionality, aimed at increasing immersion and visitor engagement. This work contributes to the growing field of digital museum studies by offering an accessible, flexible approach to XR-based public scholarship. |
