-
ABSTRACT:

Objective: To analyze the modifiable risk factors associated with the onset and progression of chronic kidney disease in patients at UMF 35.

Materials and Methods: An analytical, prospective, observational, and cross-sectional study was conducted. Data were collected using a researcher-designed instrument specifically developed for this study. Descriptive statistics were used for qualitative variables, including absolute frequencies and percentages. Pearson’s chi-square (χ²) test was applied, considering a statistically significant difference at p < 0.005.

Results: A total of 280 patients were included; 149 (53.2%) were women, with a mean age of 70.34 years. A statistically significant correlation was found between abdominal circumference and a glomerular filtration rate of less than 30 mL/min/1.73 m², with an incidence of 42 out of 121 cases and a relative risk (RR) of 1.393 (95% CI: 1.055–1.838).
