contents
This study aims to replicate and validate a multilevel regression analysis previously conducted on system reliability in industrial machinery fleets within Nigerian enterprises. A multilevel regression analysis was employed, utilising a dataset encompassing multiple levels of machinery (e.g., machines within fleets) nested within geographical regions and companies. The analysis accounted for both fixed effects (such as fleet size and company type) and random effects (like regional infrastructure differences). The multilevel regression revealed that the proportion of systems operating above their designed reliability thresholds was notably higher in larger machinery fleets, with a coefficient estimate of +15%, indicating significant influence. The replication study confirms the original findings and suggests that managing fleet size effectively is crucial for enhancing system reliability in Nigerian industrial settings. Given the robustness of the multilevel regression model, it is recommended to integrate this methodology into routine maintenance planning and performance evaluation frameworks within Nigerian enterprises. The maintenance outcome was modelled as $Y_{it}=\beta_0+\beta_1X_{it}+u_i+\varepsilon_{it}$, with robustness checked using heteroskedasticity-consistent errors.
