| contents | <p><em>This document is the first entry in the “Wild Food Forests in Tribal Jharkhand” Species Documentation Series (2026). It presents a detailed field-based profile of <strong>Clerodendrum viscosum</strong>, a climate-resilient medicinal shrub of the Santhal Pargana uplands. The species was recorded on a semi-open granite–laterite rise at 210 m elevation, under 27°C temperature, 30% relative humidity, a night low of 15°C, and wind gusts reaching ~35 kph.</em></p> <p><em>The report includes microhabitat characteristics, morphological notes (bud, calyx, corolla, stamens), ethnobotanical relevance among Santhal–Paharia communities, and the ecological role of this shrub as a pollinator-supporting and upland-stabilizing species. The series aims to build a long-term archive of wild edible, medicinal, and culturally rooted plant species central to community-led agroforestry and ecological resilience in Jharkhand.</em></p> <p><em>This work is part of the ongoing “Wild Food Forests” initiative supported by <strong>The Pollination Project (TPP), USA — Seed Grant 2025</strong>. The documentation integrates local knowledge systems, continuous field observation, and upland ecology to contribute to open scientific knowledge and conservation practice.</em></p> |
