•
This repository contains the Extreme Precipitation Risk Assessment workflow adapted from the CLIMAAX Heavy Rainfall methodology. The workflow evaluates how critical rainfall thresholds shift in magnitude and frequency under future climate scenarios.

The objective is to assess whether current impact-based rainfall thresholds (e.g., 100 mm in 24 hours) remain adequate under projected climate change conditions.

The analysis integrates:

EURO-CORDEX climate projections

Intensity–Duration–Frequency (IDF) curves

Historical baseline (1976–2005)

Future horizons (2041–2070)

Multiple RCP scenarios (RCP4.5, RCP8.5)

Folder Structure

Input Exposure Layers (data_izmir/)

izmi_hospital.geojson

izmir_school.geojson

Results - (results_izmir/)

RP_Aydin_threshold_100mm.tif

Baseline return period map (1976–2005) for the 100 mm / 24h rainfall threshold.

Frequency Shift (Return Period Change)

Magnitude Shift (Intensity Change)

Absolute Shift (mm)

Relative Shift (Factor)

Visual Outputs (plots_izmir/)

Frequency Shift Maps

Difference Maps (Frequency Change)

Magnitude Shift Maps

Infrastructure Overlay Maps

Scenario Comparison

EXTREME_PRECIPITATION_Risk_Assessment_examples_izmir.ipynb

Jupyter notebook implementing the extreme precipitation risk workflow.
