Moving beyond romanticized modern projections onto ancient marriage, the analysis approaches the wedding as a dynamic sequence of authority negotiation and capital transfer designed to secure clan stability and genealogical legitimacy within the <em>Bet ʾAb</em> framework.</span></p> <p><span>Key economic mechanisms such as the <em>mohar</em> and the <em>shilluhim</em> are reassessed through a socio-legal lens as instruments of bilateral alliance formation rather than as isolated transactions. The study further analyzes the juridical distinction between <em>erusin</em> (betrothal) and <em>nissuin</em> (marital consummation), highlighting the function of the <em>huppah</em> as a spatial marker of transferred <em>reshut</em> (jurisdictional authority).</span></p> <p><span>Finally, the research traces the documentary transition represented by the <em>ketubah</em>, demonstrating how this instrument operated as a deferred financial guarantee aimed at protecting patrimonial continuity within the household economy.</span></p> |
