- <p><span lang="EN-IE">Nigerian society still believes in obsolete and anti-humanist beliefs, which depict women as a weaker group and thus, relegated to inferior positions, with little or no respect for their educational competencies and mental capabilities. Existing literature has revealed that the majority of Nigerian women have been excluded from participating in public governance and administrative matters, which has significant importance to their economic advancement and sustainability. Conversely, this has affected the Nigerian economy and increased poverty amongst its citizens. Even though, there is no constitutional barrier to the increased or active participation of women in public governance, there exists a societal and cultural barrier that frustrates the involvement and inclusiveness of women.<span> </span></span></p>
