contents
The paper argues that the effectiveness of the training process is directly linked to considering the psychological characteristics of swimmers. The study pays special attention to analyzing the relationship between an athlete's temperament and their sports specialization (sprinter or stayer). The paper discusses in detail the strengths and weaknesses of the four temperament types (choleric, phlegmatic, melancholic, and sanguine) in relation to specific distances.
Based on the results, it is concluded that a coach's choice of training tactics should be based on the athlete's individual character. This approach ensures the maximum realization of potential, prevents mental and physical overload, and guarantees stable progress in competitions. Ultimately, the psychological factor is crucial in modern sports and is the main condition for gaining an advantage over competitors.
