This research paper aims to study the historical evolution of Indian trade practices across different periods—Ancient, Medieval, Colonial, and Post-Independence India. The paper highlights major trade routes, commodities, trade policies, ethical practices, and institutional developments that influenced Indian commerce. Special emphasis is given to indigenous trade systems, foreign trade relations, colonial exploitation, and post-independence reforms. The study is conceptual in nature and is based on secondary sources such as books, journals, and government publications. The paper concludes that Indian trade practices have continuously adapted to changing political, economic, and technological conditions, making India an important participant in global trade.</span></em></p> |
