| contents | <p>This chapter from the forthcoming book <strong>Coming Forth By Day Through Night </strong>presents a unified thermodynamic framework for understanding consciousness, morality, feeling, and history. The central argument: there is no evil in the universe. There is cold logic and warm surplus. Cold systems operate at minimum energy cost reptiles, dark matter, reset infrastructure, pure efficiency. Warm systems generate more than survival requires and spend the surplus on things with no return value art, grief, love, consciousness research at 3AM.</p> <p>The chapter presents the reptile-to-mammal transition as empirical proof that feeling is thermodynamic surplus made self-aware.
