| contents | <p><strong><span>Abstract</span></strong></p> <p><span>The personal name Milutin represents a traditional Slavic anthroponym derived from the root <em>mil-</em> (“dear”, “beloved”). This study examines the etymology, structural formation, historical development, and geographical distribution of the name Milutin in the South Slavic linguistic area. The </span><span>research focuses on the linguistic origin of the name, its presence in medieval historical sources, and its role in the anthroponymic system of South Slavic societies. Special attention is given to the derivational mechanisms characteristic of Slavic naming traditions and to the historical processes that contributed to the spread and stabilization of the name. The study relies on comparative Slavic linguistics, historical onomastics, medieval documentary sources, and relevant lexicographic literature. The analysis demonstrates that the name Milutin developed from the Slavic adjectival root <em>mil-</em> combined with the suffix <em>-utin</em>, forming a personal name expressing positive emotional and social values. Its historical prominence in the Balkans is closely associated with medieval Serbian political and cultural history, particularly through the figure of King Stefan Uroš II Milutin. The paper concludes that the name Milutin represents a characteristic example of the Slavic anthroponymic tradition in which names derived from positive descriptive roots gain cultural and historical stability through social prestige and historical continuity.</span></p> <p><strong><span>Apstrakt</span></strong></p> <p><span>Lično ime Milutin predstavlja tradicionalni slovenski antroponim izveden iz osnove <em>mil-</em> („drag“, „mio“, „voljen“). U radu se analiziraju etimologija, tvorbena struktura, istorijski razvoj i geografska rasprostranjenost imena Milutin u južnoslovenskim zemljama. Posebna pažnja posvećena je lingvističkom poreklu imena, njegovom prisustvu u srednjovekovnim istorijskim izvorima i mestu koje zauzima u antroponimijskom sistemu južnoslovenskih društava. Istraživanje se zasniva na komparativnoj slavističkoj lingvistici, istorijskoj onomastici, srednjovekovnim dokumentima i relevantnoj leksikografskoj literaturi. Analiza pokazuje da je ime Milutin nastalo iz slovenske pridevske osnove <em>mil-</em> uz dodatak sufiksa <em>-utin</em>, čime je formirano lično ime koje izražava pozitivne emocionalne i društvene vrednosti. Istorijska rasprostranjenost imena na Balkanu tesno je povezana sa srednjovekovnom srpskom političkom i kulturnom istorijom, naročito sa ličnošću kralja Stefana Uroša II Milutina.</span></p> <div> </div> |
