The methods and results of a pilot study of the effectiveness of the developed open online course "Physical Education and Sports" (the accuracy of solving control test tasks, the time spent watching video lectures and video clips, and the number of requests for studying electronic methodological recommendations) are presented. In the course of training, a high percentage of correct solutions to control tests (over 78%) and total time spent watching video lectures (over 86%) and video clips (over 62%) was determined. Also, more than 4000 requests for viewing electronic methodological recommendations were registered and more than 6000 students who successfully completed the online course within 6 weeks. The prospect of online learning is associated with additional education and obtaining vital competencies, personalized support for a sufficient level of physical qualities and training. Thus, we can conclude that the developed algorithm for organizing educational activities in the field of physical culture and sports is highly effective in the context of distance learning using digital technologies. The prospect of further online learning is associated with additional education, obtaining vital competencies of personalized support for a sufficient level of physical qualities and fitness, working capacity and health, aesthetic parameters of the body. For this purpose, we have developed a basic online course "Fitness for Life and Profession", which is available on the Russian educational platform Stepik.
