| contents | As we approach 2026, the transition from a fragmented legal system to a unified regulatory framework is a watershed moment in India's economic landscape. This article delves into the recent modifications that combined 29 legacy statutes into four comprehensive pillars: the Code of Wages, the Industrial Relations Code, the Social Security Code, and the Occupational Safety, Health, and Working Conditions Code. The primary goal of this study is to critically explore the structural evolution of these regulations to better understand how they change the traditional employer-employee relationship. The research intends to analyze the movement toward "facilitative compliance," in which the state's role shifts from rigid inspection to active support. Furthermore, this study aims to analyze the goal of workforce formalization, including the integration of the "shadow" workforce which includes gig, platform, and fixed-term workers into a centralized social security network. The study tries to assess how these amendments reconcile the "ease of doing business" with the constitutional duty of worker welfare by analyzing the underlying legislative intent.Ultimately, this article serves as a foundational guide to understanding the strategic objectives of the 2026 amendments and their role in creating a future-ready, digitized, and inclusive labor ecosystem. |
