The minimum wind speed provided / measured is 0.4826 m/s as (threshold value of the cup anemometer). Hence a measurement of 0.4826 can be any value between 0 and 0.4826 m/s.

Wind speed classes are reported as number of hours with average and maximum wind within the Beaufort classes as follows: Beaufort 0 and 1 (Calm and light air): 0 — 1.6 m/s, Beaufort 1 (Light breeze): 1.6 — 3.4 m/s, Beaufort 2 (Gentle breeze): 3.4 — 5.5 m/s, Beaufort 4 (Moderate breeze): 5.5 — 8 m/s, Beaufort 5 (Fresh breeze): 8 — 10.8 m/s, Beaufort 6 (Strong breeze): 10.8 — 13.9 m/s, Beaufort 7 (Moderate gale): 13.9 — 17.2 m/s, Beaufort 8 (Gale): 17.2 — 20.8 m/s, Beaufort 9 (Strong/severe gale): 20.8 — 24.5 m/s, Beaufort 10 (Storm): 24.5 — 28.5 m/s, Beaufort 11 and higher: 28.5 — 50 m/s.

There is no reliable wind direction data avaialble for this year.

Detailed information on gap-filled data is provided.

Note: All times are provided in UTC, not local time.

For more details read `FRCHEM_2005_WindSpeed_MetaData.txt`
