| contents | The genesis of this Shilpi Jain & Gautam Singh Murder Case, initiated with the missing report of Shilpi Jain, a former Miss Patna and continued with another individual's missing report which was Gautam Singh, a youth political leader on 2nd of July;1999. Following this, on the 3rd of July;1999 the police found both of the bodies in semi-nude condition and they both were dead. Moving further, this case was highlighted in the whole nation because the bodies were found inside a car which was a Maruti Zen at the MLA quarter number 12, Fraser Road which was allocated to the politician Sadhu Yadav, who was the brother of then-Chief Minister of Bihar Rabri Devi. Although, the Bihar Police was on cloud nine to labelled this case as a suicide, until the forensic report from the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) states that numerous individuals semen sample was found from Shilpi's body which was strongly suggesting that it was gang rape case not suicide. Then this case was transferred to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), the inquiry faced a significant hurdle most prominent was the refusal of the high-profile suspects to provide DNA samples, the legal stalemate that the courts at that time was unable or unwilling to resolve. This commentary explores the intersection of the Political Influence and Criminal Justice, analysing the procedural failure which let to the closure report to a case riddled with the evidence of the violent crime. |
