-
This dataset provides a structured inventory of publicly available hydroclimatic and physiographic datasets for the Var River watershed (≈2,800 km²), a Mediterranean Alpine basin located in southeastern France. The watershed’s main specificities lie in: (i) the occurrence of multiple extreme hydroclimatic events of different types in recent decades, including floods, flash floods, and droughts; (ii) extensive prior scientific documentation of both the basin and major events; (iii) relatively dense monitoring networks operated by local public authorities and complemented by regional- to national-scale open-access datasets; (iv) a high level of process complexity arising from
the interaction of surface water, groundwater, atmospheric processes, and anthropic pressures; and (v) the availability of multiple modelling studies that provide a basis for model benchmarking.

The inventory facilitates access to well-documented and interoperable datasets on basin physiography (topography, geology, soils, land cover and river obstacles), meteorological forcings (precipitation, potential and actual evapotranspiration and related variables), and hydrometry (streamflow, surface water and groundwater levels, soil moisture and snow cover). It integrates ground-based data, satellite-derived products, reanalysis datasets, and outputs from publicly available hydrological and hydraulic models.

The inventory is provided in the form of a structured table (available in PDF and XLS formats), which includes direct links to each original dataset to facilitate data use.

This dataset accompanies the article submitted to Earth System Science Data :
“Multi-source datasets for hydrological and hydraulic modelling applications on a Mediterranean Alpine watershed”
Fanny Picourlat (fanny.picourlat@geoazur.unice.fr), Youness Ouassanouan, Morgan Abily
Université Côte d’Azur, CNRS, Observatoire de la Côte d’Azur, IRD, Géoazur, France
