| contents |
With the growing ASUS line of laptops, keeping up with ASUS laptop features can be difficult, and can lead to buyer's remorse and uncertainty. In order to ease the challenge of poorly matched purchases, LapLab focuses on ASUS laptops. LapLab utilizes the enhanced TOPSIS multi-criteria evaluation framework to recommend laptops. A public dataset that can be obtained from the Kaggle repository, has been refined, and the processes have been documented. Processes completed include the conversion of currency, the mapping of categories to numericals (i.e. RAM type, storage type, type of OS, etc.), and the several benchmarks for each CPU and GPU that are set for performance evaluation. The system provides two decision modes to the users, which include recommendations based on presets provided, and the ability to adjust weights to achieve their personalized recommendations. The system was subjected to a comprehensive study with a total sample of 100 respondents, where usability testing, acceptance based on the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT) model, and evaluation of the results, were done. The results showed good usability and robust performance, with 96-99% of respondents finding laptops that were aligned with their objectives. Additionally, TOPSIS showed a robust performance in the ranking of options after performing a sensitivity test to evaluate the performance of the ranking based on different weight adjustment scenarios. In conclusion, LapLab has successfully built a collab between the technical details of a product and the buying criteria of the consumer, making it an easy and highly operational tool of recommendation for ASUS laptop consumers
|
