| contents |
Abstract: The integration of the Internet of Things (IoT) into diploma-level Mechanical Engineering education is essential to bridge traditional mechanical systems with intelligent automation and cyber-physical technologies. This paper proposes a structured “IoT Makeover” framework for Diploma in Mechanical Engineering programmes, aimed at embedding IoT concepts, applications, and experiential learning within the curriculum. The framework aligns programme objectives, course structure, learning outcomes, and assessment strategies with the seven NBA Programme Outcomes (POs) and relevant Programme Specific Outcomes (PSOs). A new elective course titled IoT Applications in Mechanical Engineering is designed, including modular content, laboratory experiments, and mini-projects focused on real-world applications such as condition monitoring, energy management, CNC monitoring, and smart manufacturing. Mapping between Course Outcomes (COs), POs, and PSOs is presented to demonstrate outcome-based compliance. The proposed approach promotes Industry 4.0 readiness, improves graduate employability, and fosters lifelong learning. The study concludes that systematic curriculum redesign through IoT integration can significantly enhance the relevance and quality of diploma engineering education in the context of rapidly evolving industrial needs.
|
