| contents | <p>This study explores gender perspectives in psychology within North African contexts in Uganda. A mixed methods approach combining qualitative interviews with quantitative surveys was employed to gather data from a diverse sample of Ugandan psychologists and students. Findings indicate that while Ugandan psychologists generally acknowledge the importance of addressing gender in their work, they often face challenges due to cultural taboos and lack of resources for gender-sensitive interventions. Ugandan psychologists need more training on culturally sensitive approaches to gender issues and access to adequate research materials. Psychology departments should prioritise gender sensitivity training and provide access to relevant literature. Policy-makers could support by funding gender-specific research initiatives.</p> |
