contents <p><b><i>Phintella pusilla</i> sp. nov.</b></p><p>Fig. 26</p><p><b>Diagnosis.</b> <i>Phintella pusilla</i> has an epigyne similar to that of <i>Phintella lucida</i> Wesołowska & Tomasiewicz, 2008. It can be distinguished by a delicate posterior margin of the epigyne, while the latter species has a strongly sclerotized posterior margin of the epigyne with a notch in the middle—compare Fig. 26B with fig. 148 in Wesołowska & Tomasiewicz (2008). Females of <i>Phintell</i> a spp. are difficult to recognize, in many cases identification is possible only on the basis of molecular characters.</p><p><b>Etymology.</b> The name is Latin and refers to the small size of this species.</p><p><b>Type material.</b> Holotype, ♀: <b>C.A.R., Dzanga-Ndoki N.P., Molongo, derrière le village, bord fleuve Sangha</b>, 2°27'11.59"N, 16°4'58.69"E, alt. 343m, strate arbustive, 15 Nov. 2010.</p><p><b>Description.</b> Male unknown.</p><p>Female: Dimensions. Cephalothorax length 1.7, width 1.2, height 0.7. Eye field length 0.8, anterior and posterior width 1.1. Abdomen length 1.7, width 1.2. Small spider, general appearance as in Fig. 26A. Carapace yellowish-brown with black rings around eyes and a few dark patches composed of brown setae on posterior part of carapace. Sparse long brown bristles on eye field, some white setae at anterior eyes and on slopes. Mouthparts and sternum yellow. Abdomen rounded, creamy-yellowish with delicate brown pattern, end of abdomen black (Fig. 26A). Background coloured setae on abdomen. Venter white-yellowish with brown marks. Spinnerets whitish. Legs yellow, distal ends of leg segments darker. Leg setae and spines brown. Epigyne short and wide, copulatory openings located laterally, seminal ducts running to center and then backwards, spermathecae spherical (Fig. 26B–C).</p><p><b>Distribution.</b> Known only from C.A.R., the Dzanga-Ndoki National Park.</p><p><b>Natural history.</b> The only known specimen of <i>P. pusilla</i> was collected in an area of dense shrubs near a small village alongside the Sangha river.</p>
