Type specimen not located.</p><p>Reeve’s original description— <i>‘THE BEAN ANATINA. Shell ovate, attenuated at each end, very thin, hyaline, concentrically striately ridged, posterior side flexuously beaked, scarcely gaping. Hab. Brisbane, east coast of New Holland.’</i></p><p>A single valve (Fig. 30 C) identified and figured as <i>Laternula faba</i> by Lamprell & Healy (1998: 214, fig. 626) from Moreton Bay (AMS C.304384), has a deeply inset pallial sinus similar to <i>Laternula gracilis</i> and maybe a juvenile of that species. It differs from Reeve’s figure of <i>A. faba.</i> We illustrate another specimen (MNT P057590), also from Moreton Bay (Fig. 30 B) that has a similar shape to Reeve’s figure but a shallowly inset pallial sinus.</p> |
