(figs. 30A–D). The unique epiphallus is the key characteristic to separate it from other species.

SPECIES DESCRIPTION: Coloration and general morphology (fig. 30A–D): Black head and pronotum with a lateral light stripe running from the antennae sockets through the posterior border of pronotum. From dorsal view, two light stripes running from the eyes through the anterior margin of pronotum.A yellow stripe running through the median carina of pronotum from dorsal view. Antennae shorter than head, pronotum and tegmina together. Tegmina. Fully winged homogeneous in color, reaching the tip of the abdomen. Legs. Fore and middle legs greenish/yellowish. Hind legs with greenish femur, reddish knee and red tibia and tarsomeres. Female with similar coloration pattern. Slightly larger and stouter than male.

Male terminalia: Cerci stout with the apical tip curved inward. From dorsal view with two internal projections the most distal shorter, triangular in shape and pointing distally and the most proximal a little larger, knob-shaped and pointing inwards (fig. 30A–B).

Female terminalia: Ventral and dorsal valves long being the dorsal ones stouter and longer.

Male genitalia (fig. 30A–B): Epiphallus small, well sclerotized, bridge straight; ancorae long, semi triangular, and slightly curved inwards; anterior projections longer than ancorae and with angled apices; posterior projections short, semi triangular with angled border; lophi prominent and developed posteriorly with internal tooth with rounded tips and more sclerotized. Ectophallus zygoma rounded with large posterior projection; ramus slightly developed; apodemes of cingulum well developed; sheath of aedeagus well developed and covering basal part of the valves of endophallus. Endophallus with dorsal valves very similar in length than the ventral ones. Dorsal valves from lateral view thin and ending in a pointed tip. Ventral valves pear-shaped from lateral view.

TYPE MATERIAL: Holotype male (fig. 30A–B): Mexico, Chiapas, Tuxtla Gutierrez, km 18., 1300m en El Sumidero, 4-XII-1973, 1300 masl, 16.820363° N, - 93.057654° W, M. This species has only been collected from its type locality at El Sumidero, Chiapas, in the Chiapas Highlands, between October and December. This species can be found in shrubby vegetation of oak forest.

MEASUREMENTS: Male. Tegmen, 13.5. Pronotum, 3.9. Hind femur, 11.8. Female. Tegmen, 16.5. Pronotum, 5.0. Hind femur, 15.0.
|
