  • <p><b>46. <i>Platypus candezei</i> Chapuis</b></p><p><i>Platypus candezei</i> Chapuis, 1865: 257.</p><p><b>Distribution.</b> ‘Borneo’, East & West Malaysia.</p><p><b>Distribution in W. Malaysia.</b> Not specified (Browne 1961a).</p><p><b>Hosts.</b> It has been suggested that the species has a strong preference for trees of the family Ebenaceae, although no genera have been named (Browne 1961a; Beaver 2001). However, there are also records from <i>Agathis</i> (Podocarpaceae), and <i>Nauclea</i> (Rubiaceae), in timber imported from East Malaysia to Japan (Browne 1980a; Ohno 1990).</p><p><b>Biology.</b> Attacks are confined to stems of 10–20 cm diameter (Browne 1961a).</p>
