Rear leg tibia (Fig. 1416B) with 5 inner and 3 outer spines.</p><p>1906. <i>Stenopelmatus cephalotes</i> Walker 1869. Kirby, A Synonymic Catalogue of Orthoptera. Vol. II, Orthoptera Saltatoria, Achetidae et Phasgonuridae. 2:112, moved <i>S. oculatus</i> to junior synonym of <i>S. cephalotes.</i></p><p>1916. <i>Stenopelmatus fuscus.</i> Hebard, Journal New York Entomological Society, 24, 74, moved <i>S. oculatus</i> to junior synonym of <i>S. fuscus</i>, in error since the latter does not occur in Utah.</p><p>2021. <i>Ammopelmatus oculatus.</i> Weissman <i>et al.</i>, Zootaxa, 4917, 1–122. Transferred to <i>Ammopelmatus</i>, based on rear leg spines and collection locality. <b>New status: nomen dubium</b>, because there are four species of <i>Ammopelmatus</i> known from Utah (Table 33, p. 47), coupled with lack of specific locality data, drumming information, and DNA for the holotype.</p> |
