contents <p>Galactic rotation curves show a well-known discrepancy between the velocities predicted by Newtonian gravity based on visible (baryonic) matter and the velocities actually observed, particularly in the outer regions of galaxies.</p> <p> </p> <p>In this work, we propose a field-based framework in which gravity is not treated as a fundamental force, but rather as a manifestation of spatial gradients in an underlying energy density field. Starting from the relation g(r) = -K dP/dr, we derive a generalized velocity expression of the form v^2(r) ∝ r^(2 - D(r)), where D(r) encodes the effective geometric or distributional behavior of the system.</p> <p> </p> <p>This approach naturally reproduces the transition from Newtonian dynamics in inner regions to approximately flat rotation curves at large radii, without invoking dark matter as an additional component. The model also allows for diversity in galactic rotation profiles depending on the internal configuration of the energy density field.</p> <p> </p> <p>The framework provides clear, testable predictions and offers a unified interpretation of galactic dynamics based on energy density structure rather than unseen mass components.</p> <p> </p> <p>This work is presented as a preprint and is currently under review.</p>
