Therefore, the study of the epistolary heritage of the Ukrainian interwar emigration provides a lot of information not only about the life path of one or another individual, but also about the relationships between people that reflect everyday life and the features of the sociocultural environment where the emigrants lived. Private letters are a source that uniquely combines the documentary and the subjective. On the one hand, they complement and specify a person’s biography, reflect his psychological state, motives of actions in particular and activity in general (self-identification and nationbuilding position), vividly illustrate the historical period in which the individual lived and created. Private letters, on the other hand, are truthful personal testimony not intended for publication. In private observations and remarks, one feels not only an individually personified slice of time, but also an imprint of public taste, which is not found in official documents. The article contains 64 letters of Stanislav Severynovych Dnistrinskyj to his wife Sofya Lvivna and 8 letters from the Collection of Documents “Ukrainian Museum in Prague (1925–1948)” of the Center for Public and Cultural Affairs of Ukraine (Kyiv), including letters from Platonida Shchurovska‑Rossinevich, Serhiy Shelukhyn, Olha Kushnir, Halyna Kushnir, Valentyn Sim'yantsev, Natalia Kozytska, Panas Fedenko. The research methodology is based on the prosopographic method and historical analysis. The prosopographic method is aimed at expanding and deepening the biographical material by taking into account the human and personal in history. Historical analysis “serves” to reconstruct household descriptions and reproduce the chronological boundaries of correspondence between addressees. Most of the private interwar emigration letters that have been found are divided into communication letters and reply letters. Most of them are dated to the 1920s, with much fewer letters from the 1930s. The topics of the letters are diverse: this is the classic household “triad” (housing, food, clothing), rest, description of diseases and methods of their treatment, working moments and religious issues. The study showed that private emigration letters of the interwar period are a means of information, a way of self-expression, a household biographical source.
