contents
This article discusses the moral and ethical issues of improving athletes' achievements through genetic technologies; what are the values of victory in conditions when genetic manipulations have been carried out in an organism to achieve success, which is associated with the use of modern genetic biotechnologies. From the point of view of bioethics, in the field of biomedical research and for the purpose of providing professional assistance to athletes, sport can be used as one of the stages of a person's striving for perfection as a socially modified organism. The rapid development of biomedical technologies and their bioethical understanding often give an unexpected, completely different, new shade to such fundamental features of human existence as life, death and immortality. Modern sport is openly viewed as a competition between different types and advantages of biotechnologies. Biotechnological interventions in athletes' bodies create new opportunities for optimizing the training process, but at the same time they raise risks of discrimination and equal opportunities. The issue of biotechnological interventions is becoming increasingly active with the development of gene therapy, which forces sports organizations to develop new methods of monitoring and regulation.
