It works by separating who you are from what your brain is doing. Just because your <strong>intent</strong> <strong>didn't match your output </strong>that doesn't mean <strong>you</strong> are broken. The <strong>Sanding</strong> <strong>Scale</strong> lets you rate how much <strong>mental friction</strong> you feel, from 0 (great) to 12+ (crisis). That number gives you and your doctor (or anyone you trust) a <strong>shared language</strong> for what’s happening inside yourself, no more guessing or vague descriptions. When <strong>distress</strong> gets high, the system gives you <strong>very short, physical actions</strong> to follow, like things you can do with your body to short‑circuit your brain’s tendency to replay the same painful thoughts over and over. There are also <strong>helper</strong> pages and <strong>templates</strong> you can fill out <strong>ahead of time</strong>, so your loved ones know <strong>exactly</strong> what <strong>helps</strong> you and what doesn’t.
