Clypeal process broad, elongate, rounded laterally, apex narrowly emarginate, forming two rounded lobes; dorsally with a distinct but narrow, sharp ridge raised slightly above the otherwise flat surface; in profile evenly sloping, nearly straight. Mandible moderately broad, slightly narrowed medially and broadened at apex, ventral margin weakly concave; slightly twisted, outwardly polished, smooth, shining; in ventral view abruptly bent near base, distally straight. Apex of mandible vertical, with teeth distinctly stronger ventrally. Malar space very small. Dorsal setae of head about as long as flagellar width or scarcely longer. Frons moderately punctate, about 2–3 pit widths apart. Vertex and gena setae distinctly longer than frons setae but only about as thick, not particularly conspicuous. Frons microsculpture variable, evident but smooth and shining to finely microreticulate (rarely coriaceous with irregular longitudinal raised striae between eyes). Vertex in dorsal view more or less straight; occipital margin broadly rounded. Lateral ocelli separated from vertex crest by about their own length. Ocellar triangle anterior angle strongly acute. Head more or less parallel-sided for some distance posterior to eyes. Eye setae moderate, about as long as 2–3 ommatidia. Dorsum of head in lateral view slightly convex, head deepest on line through eye. Venter of head posterior to mandible convex in lateral view, with relatively sparse setae. Head evenly convex ventrally, genal angle absent. Side of head posterior to eye convex. Gena ventral to eye convex; sculpture entirely smooth and polished. Postgenal depression very shallow, nearly absent. Antenna extending to posterior margin of pronotum.

MESOSOMA. Anterior margin of dorsal pronotal area in lateral view evenly rounded. Pronotal setae longer than flagellar width. Propodeal disc laterally coarsely rugulose; median carina absent; transverse carina distinct, complete; metapleural carinae complete. Profemur only moderately broadened, more than twice as long as wide, strongly laterally compressed, slightly arcuate in dorsal view.

METASOMA. Shining, with smooth but distinct microreticulation over all terga. S3–5 each with two pairs of long erect setae, S6 with one pair much longer than others. Sixth sternum broadly glabrous medially, with sparse setae laterally.

COLOR. Body entirely dark brown to black. Antenna brown on base of scape and apical flagellomeres, yellow medially. Mandible reddish brown. Coxae and femora brown, tibiae, tarsi, and trochanters yellow.

WINGS. Membrane tinged with yellow. Basal cells of fore wing nearly glabrous, with only a few scattered setae. Cell 1M distinctly convex posteriorly, corner medioapical. Distal portion of vein Rs strongly curved, meeting anterior wing margin at oblique angle.

MEASUREMENTS. LFW 1.62 mm; LM 0.92 mm (0.88–0.95); WH/LH 0.75 (0.73–0.76); DH/LH 0.48 (0.45–0.48); EV/HE 0.59 (0.53–0.76); EV/WF 0.60 (0.56–0.66); WF/HE 0.98 (0.95–1.14); WH/WF 1.79 (1.67–1.80); OOL/WOT 1.50 (1.45–1.65); DM/LM 0.37; FL/FW 2.26 (2.17–2.36); HFL/HFW 2.38 (2.32–2.38); A3 L/ W 1.00 (1.00–1.20); 2R1 L/ W 2.64. Malar space distinct, about 1/4 as long as mandible base. Frons mostly sparsely punctate, especially posteriorly. Head rounded shortly posterior of eyes. Metasoma. Erect setae of S6 only slightly longer than those of previous segments. Color. Tibiae predominantly brown.

MEASUREMENTS. One specimen has peculiar raised longitudinal striae in addition to the normal microsculpture. It bears a striking resemblance to S. rufignatha Fullaway, 1920 from Oahu, and in several respects is more similar to the Hawaii species than others from Australia.
