| contents |
We develop a unified theoretical framework in which evolution, intelligence, and consciousness emerge as macroscopic consequences of operator spectral dynamics within the Theory of Operator Physics (TOP). The approach begins from a spectral description of physical systems, where interactions are encoded in operator eigenvalues and their renormalization group flow. We show that a single quantity—the spectral gap—controls the degree of information integration, yielding a direct relation between spectral structure and complexity.

By introducing a generalized free energy functional combining energetic constraints, entropy, and an explicit integration term, we derive a dynamical equation governing the evolution of probability distributions across physical, biological, and cognitive systems. This formulation predicts a universal control parameter and a critical point at which the spectral gap collapses and integration diverges logarithmically. We demonstrate that major evolutionary transitions, including abiogenesis, multicellularity, the Cambrian diversification, and the emergence of intelligence, correspond to crossings of this critical threshold.

The framework recovers Darwinian evolution as a limiting case in which fitness corresponds to integration-adjusted viability, and connects to Integrated Information Theory by identifying consciousness with the irreducible component of near-critical integration. It further predicts universal scaling laws linking complexity to energy throughput and provides quantitative relations for neural dynamics and artificial intelligence scaling.

These results suggest that complexity, life, and consciousness arise generically from thermodynamically constrained spectral dynamics, establishing a unified physical basis for evolution across all scales.
|
