Conventional treatment mainly involves corticosteroids, which may produce adverse effects upon prolonged use. The present study aims to formulate and evaluate a mucoadhesive oral gel containing curcumin and hyaluronic acid as a safer alternative therapy. The gel was prepared using hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC) as a gelling. Preformulation studies including UV spectroscopy, melting point determination, partition coefficient, and FTIR analysis were carried out to confirm drug compatibility. The formulated gel was evaluated for pH, spreadability, extrudability, drug content, and mucosal irritation. The formulation exhibited satisfactory physicochemical properties with a pH in the range of 6.5–7.0, good spreadability, uniform drug distribution, and no signs of irritation.
