contents <p>This repository provides a set of four harmonised semi-structured interview protocols designed to investigate the adoption and technology transfer of <strong>variable-rate application technologies</strong> in agriculture. The protocols cover four key applications: variable-rate sowing, mineral nitrogen fertilisation, manure (organic), and crop protection spraying.</p> <p>The interview guides were developed within a qualitative, <strong>multi-actor</strong> research design to capture perspectives across the precision agriculture technology transfer system, including <strong>farmers, agricultural advisors and engineers, mapping and software developers, machinery manufacturers, machinery dealers, and input suppliers</strong>.</p> <p>Each protocol follows a standardised structure covering awareness, current practices, technologies and data use, perceived benefits, adoption barriers, adoption drivers, actor interactions, market conditions, and future perspectives. This harmonisation enables systematic comparison across technologies and stakeholder groups.</p> <p>The protocols were informed by a targeted review of the literature on precision agriculture adoption and technology transfer and were used to conduct semi-structured interviews in northern France between November 2024 and January 2025.</p> <p>This dataset is intended to support transparency, reproducibility, and reuse in qualitative research on precision agriculture adoption and innovation systems.</p> <p><strong>Disclaimer:</strong> The interview protocols provided in this repository do not include the ethical statement presented to participants during data collection. In all interviews, respondents were informed that participation was voluntary, that data would be anonymised and used for research purposes only, that they could withdraw at any time, and that results could be shared upon request.<br><br><strong>Acknowledgements</strong>: I would like to add a note of thanks to the fifth-year Engineering students specializing in AgTech at UniLaSalle (Promotion 164) for their work on developing and refining the interview protocol, and to Victoria Ruiz for her valuable guidance and insightful advice.</p>
