| contents |
JWST observations of little red dots (LRDs) and other compact, high-luminosity galaxies reveal a clear and systematic shift in ionization conditions with redshift. An analysis of JADES NIRSpec GOODS-S emission-line data shows opposing evolution in [OIII]/Hβ and [OII]/Hβ, combining to produce a monotonic increase in [OIII]/[OII] from z ∼ 2 to 5. This divergence indicates a redistribution of galaxy populations toward high-ionization regimes at earlier cosmic times.

We identify LRDs as high-ionization systems arising from reduced configuration-space degeneracy within the Universal Constraint (UC) framework. In this picture, compact, high-luminosity galaxies are not anomalous but emerge naturally when accessible states are restricted. This provides a concrete observational link between emission-line evolution and the physical origin of LRDs.
|
