| contents | <p>This Zenodo entry contains the Matlab scripts needed to reproduce the vertical velocity analysis and to produce the figures found in Thompson et al. (Comm. Earth Env., 2026), "The three-dimensional structure of fine-scale, vertical velocities in the Southern Ocean inferred from SWOT and glider observations." The Matlab scripts load the glider data, which can be accessed at doi.10.5281/zenodo.17252347, generate the SSH-potential density relationship, and calcuate the Q-vector terms that are needed to invert for the vertical velocity. The inversion for vertical velocity is carried out using the xinvert Python package, which is accessibel at: https://github.com/miniufo/xinvert. Our research group is in the process of developing a Python-based code for the QG-omega vertical velocity inversion. The files with the inferred vertical velocities are quite large (~500MB), so only one example data file is uploaded here, "FOCUS_data_trunc_swath_155_9.nc"; please contact Andrew Thompson for the full data files. Any additional questions can be directed to Andrew Thompson (andrewt@caltech.edu).</p> |
