- <p class="MsoNormal"><span>The present investigation aims to develop and evaluate sustained release matrix tablets of Repaglinide and Miglitol using processed Aloe vera mucilage as a natural release modifier. Both drugs are widely used in the management of Type 2 diabetes mellitus but suffer from short biological half-lives and require frequent administration. The study explores the potential of Aloe vera mucilage as a hydrophilic matrix-forming agent to prolong drug release. Matrix tablets were formulated using wet granulation technique and evaluated for pre-compression and post-compression parameters. In vitro drug release studies demonstrated sustained drug release up to 12 hours. Release kinetics indicated that drug release followed Higuchi diffusion model with non-Fickian transport mechanism. The results suggest that Aloe vera mucilage is an effective, economical, and biocompatible alternative to synthetic polymers for sustained drug delivery.</span></p>
