- <p class="p">Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is a chronic metabolic disorder characterized by persistent hyperglycemia resulting from insulin resistance, impaired insulin secretion, or a combination of both mechanisms. It represents approximately 90–95% of all diabetes cases and is associated with a wide spectrum of microvascular and macrovascular complications that significantly increase morbidity and mortality worldwide. Due to its progressive nature and multisystem involvement, T2DM has become one of the most pressing global public health challenges of the 21st century.</p>
