contents <p>This document specifies the methodology, species panel, and decision rule for an empirical test of Perez’s strict-octave prediction on basal land-plant mitochondrial genomes. The prediction, motivated by Perez’s Vortex A/B framework [3, 4] and developed in Coates 2026b [1], is that the ratio of top SL(2,R) Lyapunov exponents on the protein and DNA layers, λProt/λDNA, equals log(2)/log(φ) ≈1.4404 in basal land-plant mitochondrial lineages. This was empirically observed to sub-1% precision in two species (Physcomitrium patens,−0.23%; Selaginella moel-lendorffii, +0.60%). The present test extends the panel to seven additional species spanning four moss subclasses, three lycophyte clades, and one quillwort representative. We commit, prior to running the analysis pipeline, to a quantitative decision rule based on the count of species whose empirical ratio falls within 1% of 1.4404: ≥4/7 supports the ancestral-state hypothesis; ≤1/7 refutes it; intermediate counts indicate partial support. This document is deposited on Zenodo before the pipeline is run, so that the time stamp on the DOI establishes the prediction as prior to data observation rather than retrospective.</p>
