contents
The presented article addresses the issue of crime reconstruction, defining it as a specific method of criminalistics tactics based on the scientific principle of modeling. The essence of this method is the process of purposeful restoration of lost original situations, objects, or events, based on their preserved parts, representations, or testimonies. The main objective of reconstruction in police practice is to obtain detailed knowledge about the course of the unlawful act, verify the evidence collected so far, and validate individual investigative versions. In the text, the author discusses in detail the criminalistic-tactical aspect of the implementation of this procedure, which consists of two stages of preparation and three stages of the process itself. The success of the reconstruction is conditioned by compliance with fundamental tactical principles, including the principle of a single leader, the principle of purposefulness, vigilance, as well as the principle of voluntariness and separability when multiple persons are involved. A significant part of the article is devoted to the comparison of reconstruction with other methods of criminalistics tactics. The author emphasizes that the performance of a reconstruction is directly contingent upon a high-quality crime scene investigation, which serves to secure the "originals" for the subsequent creation of a model. At the same time, it defines the differences compared to the verification of testimony on-site, where, unlike reconstruction, such emphasis is not placed on the identity of the conditions (time, light, temperature) in which the procedure is performed. On an applied level, the article demonstrates the practical use of reconstruction through a possible variant of the descriptive part of the official record. Thus, the article provides a theoretical and practical framework for a deeper understanding of this criminalistic method in contemporary police practice.
