•
This dataset provides a high-resolution (100 m) raster map of land suitability for the installation of wind power plants across the entire territory of Ukraine, with values ranging from 0 (unsuitable) to 1 (highly suitable). We provide the data as a GeoTIFF raster file along with an associated .qml style file for visualization in GIS software.

Coverage: Ukraine
Spatial resolution: 100 meters
Coordinate system: EPSG:32636 (WGS 84 / UTM zone 36N)
Data format: GeoTIFF raster + QML (style file)
Data range values: from 0 (unsuitable) to 1 (highly suitable)

The map is based on a combination of:

Climatic data (Global Wind Atlas; ERA5-Land, 2019–2023): wind power density at 100 m height, duration of unsuitable wind speeds, temperature, relative humidity,

Topographic data (SRTM DEM, 90 m): terrain slope,

Land cover/use data (Sentinel-1/2, 2023, 10 m, classification map produced by Department of Mathematical Modelling and Data Analysis of National Technical University of Ukraine "Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute" and Space Research Institute National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and State Space Agency of Ukraine),

Infrastructure-related data (OpenStreetMap): distance to primary roads and high-voltage power lines,

Security-related data (ACLED, 2022–2024): air strike intensity across Ukraine.

Suitability values were calculated using the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) based on expert judgment, and combined using a Weighted Sum Model (WSM).

The product was developed within the Horizon Europe-funded project U_CAN – Ukraine towards Carbon Neutrality (Grant Agreement No. 101148374).
