The specimen was damaged and macerated, so the description of the skeleton was not complete.The ectosome is an aegogropila-like reticulation of thin tracts, 2–3 spicules thick, and inbetween there are rosettes of anisochelae I. The choanosome has anastomosing spicule tracts which subdivide and form thin brushes near the surface. Spicules ‘normal’ mycalostyles curved sinuously, 480 x 14 µm, anisochelae I 48 µm, anisochelae II 24 µm, sigmas I, spined, 480 x 24 µm, sigmas II, spined, 140 x 6 µm.</p><p><b>Distribution</b>. Korea Strait, depth 116 m, and possibly Sri Lanka.</p><p><b>Comment</b>. Dendy (1905) believed that a single large serrated sigma (394 µm) found in ‘deep water off Galle, Sri Lanka’ belongs to Lindgren’s species.</p> |
