contents
Six species belonging to the family Seguenziidae collected on the South Azorean Seamount Chain (SASC) have been studied. Three species are described as new: Basilissopsis athenae n. sp., Carenzia marismontis n. sp., and Asthelys hyeresensis n. sp. The distributions of these new taxa are probably restricted to the bathyal crests and slopes of the SASC. Basilissopsis athenae n. sp. is part of a regional radiation within the genus where three NE Atlantic species show a large morphological similarity. In contrast, Carenzia marismontis n. sp. is very dissimilar to the NE Atlantic Carenzia carinata (Jeffreys, 1877). The genus Asthelys is represented by two morphologically different species.
