contents <p><b><i>Phascolomys bassi</i> Lesson, 1827</b></p><p><i>Phascolomys bassi</i> Lesson, 1827: 229.</p><p>COMMON NAME. — Bare-nosed Wombat.</p><p>CURRENT NAME. — <i>Vombatus ursinus</i> (Shaw, 1800).</p><p>See Jackson & Groves (2015: 101).</p><p>COLLECTOR/ S. — Charles-Alexandre Lesueur or Mr Cooper, <i>contra</i> de Beaufort (1966: 536) who mentioned both Péron and Lesueur as its collectors. COLLECTION LOCALITY. — Not designated. COMMENT. — After Dawson (1988: 50), type locality could be King Island. COLLECTION DATE. — Between 8 and 27 December 1802. SPECIMEN NUMBER/ S. — No type designated (Dawson 1988: 50). Five specimens of this species, and/or <i>Phascolomis wombat</i> above, appear to have embarked alive back to France on <i>Le Naturaliste</i> (Jangoux <i>et al.</i> 2010: 269).</p><p>ILLUSTRATIONS. — Illustrations referred to above under <i>Phascolomis wombat</i> Lesueur & Petit, 1807 can also apply here.</p>
